Introduction 

HMEI machinery & Engineering Co. (Hereinafter referred to as HMEI) was  formally established in Hangzhou in December 1982 and is a key design and research unit of China's light industry directly under the Ministry of Light Industry. It is a technology-oriented enterprise which is subordinate to China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) with more than 160 employees.

The registered capital of HMEI is 62.56 million yuan. Currently, it has two locations in Hangzhou: on Tiyuchang Road and in Hangzhou Future Sci-tech City, covering a total area of 34.2 acres with a construction area of approximately 50,000 square meters.

HMEI mainly engages in scientific research and development, engineering design, new technology and equipment research and development, complete equipment supply, technical services, and engineering general contracting in industries related to light industry such as pulp and papermaking, daily chemicals, and food engineering. In recent years, it has extended its advantages in light industry technology and equipment to related industries such as new building materials, paper-based materials, and biomass energy.

HMEI is a national high-tech enterprise and has been certified as a "Zhejiang Provincial Enterprise Research Institute" "Zhejiang Provincial Specialized and Innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprise" "Zhejiang Provincial Enterprise High-tech Research and Development Center" "Zhejiang Provincial Innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprise" and "Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Enterprise". It has been approved as the leading evaluation agency for enterprise standards in the field of pulp and papermaking equipment for two consecutive years.

HMEI has three national-level laboratories and technical service platforms, including the National Engineering Laboratory for Pulp and Papermaking, the National Industrial (Light Industry Machinery) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory, and a national-level public service demonstration platform for small and medium-sized enterprises. Industry organizations such as the Mechanical Equipment Committee of the China Paper Association, the National Light Industry Machinery Standardization Center and Standardization Technical Committee, the National Food Processing Machinery Standardization Technical Committee, the National Light Industry Pulp, Paper, Food, Daily Chemicals, and Plastics Machinery Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, "Light Industry Machinery" magazine, and the China Canned Food Industry Innovation Design Center are located in the institute, making it one of the units for product quality appraisal organizations in Zhejiang Province.

HMEI has the qualifications for EPC contract project, Grade A for engineering design, Grade A for engineering consulting units, Grade B for architectural design, Qualification for design of fixed pressure vessels (A1, A2, A3 and D), design qualification for public pipelines (GB1, GB2), and design qualifications for industrial pipelines (GC1, GC2). Passed quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety management system certification.

With advanced design methods and extensive experience in professional research and design, the institute has accumulated rich practical experience. HMEI has a strong research and development base with complete equipment, capable of providing comprehensive services to clients including testing, research, equipment development and design, technical services, engineering design, complete equipment supply, and project general contracting.
